Our popular Best for Birds collection have a number of bird houses with an iconic and architectural touch. We were inspired by historic architectonic styles from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Scandinavia when designing these new bird houses. The bird houses are specially designed for the blue tit, but also for the crested tit, glaucous-headed tit, matted tit and black tit.

All new bird houses have a number of common advantages:

• Made of weatherproof and hand-moulded polyresin
• They are easy to stack and to sell as a gift item. All houses are packaged in a brown-green gift box with a peephole on the front.
• They are easy to hang up by the keyhole at the back.
• The houses easily dissipate excess heat through the two ventilation holes under the roof.
• The houses are easy to clean by lifting the bottom.

Assorted canal houses with stepped, neck and bell gables

Within the total line of polyresin houses for birds, there are two assortments of 3 houses in the same style. Starting with the typical Dutch, but also Belgian canal houses. The range is characterised by the houses with detailed bell gables, neck gables and stepped gables, like the similar stone houses built after the great fires of the 15th century. The above-mentioned birds can nest in the birdhouses thanks to a 27 mm flight opening in the gables.

Range of timber frame houses

Germany is best known for this form of architecture. The half-timbered houses are spread throughout the country. The first half-timbered houses were farms in which a supporting skeleton of wooden beams was filled with loam or mortar and with wickerwork of willow, oak or hazel. The miniature half-timbered houses with fly-holes are, just like the canal houses, ideal for sheltering, protecting and nesting birds. These bird houses are also suitable for birds such as the blue tit, crested tit, glaucous-headed tit, matted tit and black tit.

In Schonach in the Black Forest, where clockmaker Franz Ketterer designed his first cuckoo clock, there is a life-size cuckoo clock in the shape of a (you guessed it)... house! Today, the cuckoo clock is one of the most popular souvenir among visitors to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and North East France. So you can say the cuckoo clock has become a cultural icon.
