The mission of Esschert Design is after many years still unchanged: let people enjoy garden and nature. We do this with 15 collections and about 3000 articles. Sustainability is becoming increasingly important within Esschert Design. We are always looking for ways to market our products in a sustainable way. Therefore we like to tell you which steps we take to be as sustainable as possible ourselves and which sustainable products we have developed.

This is how we contribute to sustainability

To be sustainable, people, the environment and the economy must be in balance so that we do not exhaust the earth. Nature is the greatest source of inspiration for all our products. We think it is important that not only this generation enjoys the outdoors, but also many generations to come. Thus, we ensure that we launch collections with products that:

contribute to biodiversity; collections such as Best for Birds attract animals into the garden creating natural biodiversity. This means more flowers, plants, animals and insects in the garden. For example, our 4 seasons bird food keeps the little birds visiting the garden all year long. Our bee house attracts bees to the garden, these bees help fertilize the flowers and plants in the garden and are thus an important part of organic gardening. Hedgehogs have less and less space, as more and more gardens are filled with tiles and paving, our hedgehog basket gives hedgehogs the space to unwind, nest and hibernate.

Encourage reuse or recycling; Esschert Design has introduced many products to the market in recent years that you can use several times or that can be recycled. In this way we prevent a larger amount of waste. Products that encourage reuse or recycling include our bamboo straws, these bamboo straws even come with a brush to clean the straws! We also have net bags, trash grabbers, a trash bag ring, storage and composting cans and of course the sturdy reusable canvas bags. These bags are strong and extremely durable, because you can use them over and over again. This saves you a lot of plastic.

contribute to a better environment; we pay much attention to products that contribute to the environment. We are proud of our seeds for expanding the habitat of insects and bats, our insect hotels, feeding items and water bowls for both animals and insects. Of course, we are also extremely happy with our Olla, a terracotta pot that reduces garden water consumption by 70%. Our zinc rain barrel ensures that rainwater is collected and that there is always enough water to water plants.

Products that let children discover nature at an early age; with our Kids in the Garden collection, children learn in a playful way how much fun nature and the garden is. Children can paint their own insect hotel. When the insect hotel is finished, you have to let it dry. Then the insect hotel can be hung up and everyone can enjoy more liveliness in the garden. We can learn a lot from birds in the garden, a nesting box attracts birds. It is of course a lot more fun when children can first carpenter their own nesting box. The birdhouse can now be hung proudly, which is going to be fun. And with the children's broom made from FSC® certified wood, even the littlest ones can help out in the garden!

Products whick promote active leisure time activities in nature; Our Garden Tools collection has been specially developed to ensure that people can and want to spend as much time as possible in the garden. But this collection also includes products that contribute to a better environment. With our litter grab you can easily clean up litter without straining your back, isn't that nice?
