The squirrel's habitat
Squirrels prefer to live in forested areas with plenty of food. However, we frequently see these adorable animals in cities with few trees because they frequently seek food outside of their comfort zone. As a result, they are particularly drawn to gardens that provide food.
A safe place
Our nest boxes especially for squirrels gives them a sense of security, offering them a place to live, sleep or use it as a nest. Normally, squirrels construct nests for a variety of reasons. When they are threatened, they flee to another nest. This nesting box is then a true blessing.
It is preferable to hang at least two nesting boxes close together. This hive has several distinct passages. Hang the passageway near a branch or tree so that the squirrels can escape quickly.

What do squirrels eat?
In a woodland environment, squirrels' food includes acorns, walnuts and hazelnuts. They can’t find this food all year round. Therefore, they also settle for berries, bark, caterpillars, mealworms, mushrooms and birds' eggs. To assist squirrels, we can provide food in the garden so that they can fill their bellies even during months when there is less food available.
Aside from food, squirrels require water, so a bowl in the water garden is ideal. Place the receptacle near a tree, preferably, so they can easily escape.

Feeders for squirrels
To find food in the more difficult months, squirrels often raid bird feeders. With our special squirrel feeders and acorn feed silos, you avoid this problem and offer these acrobatic animals a safe place to eat. Squirrels will either feast on the food on the spot or hide the loot for their winter supply.
Double feeder
This double squirrel feeder allows you to feed squirrels two different types of food. The front of this house is made of plexiglass, making it easy to see if the feeder needs to be refilled. The squirrels can access the food through the side of the house. A dinner party for the squirrels!
Squirrel peanut butter feeder
Squirrels are clever when looking for food. Yet they don't always manage to find food. Then it is nice that we humans can give them a hand, like with this peanut butter feeder, designed especially for squirrels. This feeder has two entrances, so the squirrel can easily reach it from two sides. Combine this feeder with the Wild on Wildlife squirrel peanut butter*.
The little animals will quickly discover how to reach the food. Enjoy a beautiful scene in the garden when the squirrels have discovered the peanut butter. The advantage of the special squirrel houses is that they are designed in such a way that only squirrels can remove the food by lifting the roof.

Squirrels create forests
Squirrels are very forgetful. Squirrels do not eat their seeds right away, but they hide their food supplies in different places so that they have a supply for the winter. They simply forget about these stashes. For instance, forgotten nuts that have been buried can germinate into new trees, this is why squirrels play an important role in our ecosystem.
Besides planting trees, squirrel also spread fungal spores from mushrooms, which allow other plant species to grow, this is because they provide them with water and other nutrients.
