Co co nuts, with coconut
Wednesday, September 2, 2020
Today is World Coconut Day and it's all about the importance of the coconut. They are multifunctional and have been providing us with water, food, medication and sustainable materials for years. Something useful can be made out of every part of the coconut, from the shell to the fibers. This makes coconut a valuable raw material, with which the most beautiful and practical products are designed.
Protection against weather and wind
The coconut fibres from the bark of the coconut protect against weather influences and sudden changes in temperature. With a custom cut coir inlay you protect trees, bushes, plants and pots against winter conditions. This is not only useful for your customer's garden, but is also very suitable to protect your own stock.
Not only the flora benefits from the protective and isolating effect of coconut. For example, a nest made of coconut hair offers a good hiding place for birds such as the wren in bad weather.
A good soil
Coconut fiber is a completely organic material that stimulates root development and soil fertility. Most hanging baskets are filled with a coir inlay. This is because hanging plants need a good soil that quickly drains away excess water and can store water for a long time in drier periods.
Practical and decorative
Coconut fibres are rough, which makes coconut extremely suitable for use in doormats. Because of the natural fibers it is not advisable to lay a coir doormat outside, to slow down the biodegradable process. By the way, the mat stays good longer by cleaning it regularly. A coir doormat does not have to be standard. We have turned our doormats into a true piece of art. So you can actually use the autumn leaf doormat as wall decoration too!
