This plant has a long history and thanks to its many properties, we have been using it for several purposes. Another attribute of bamboo is that it’s carbon-positive, meaning that it absorbs harmful carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as it grows. And it produces twice as much oxygen as other wood species.

Not to mention, that the plant’s long fibres make the material stronger and more flexible, than most wood, yet they have lower environmental impact. Such attributes make bamboo a sustainable solution, when it comes to garden and home decoration.

Fact: In Asia, bamboo is used to build complete bridges and houses. According to UNESCO, 70 hectares of bamboo produces enough material to build 1000 bamboo houses.

Around the garden

There are many ways to make our garden benefit from bamboo. For example, a bamboo bird nesting bottle is a cosy place for birds thanks to the hardwearing and water-resistant material. And thanks to the natural character of bamboo, it fits in the garden habitat.
