4x must-haves for indoor plant care in spring
Monday, February 26, 2024
Would you like to help your customers make their houseplants flourish this spring AND extend your own houseplant season? We have listed some useful items for you that fit perfectly into your spring assortment. Google trends and our data showed that there are peaks in consumer search behavior (April/May) and purchasing behavior of retailers worldwide (March/April) for these items in spring. Discover these 4 absolute must-haves for your assortment now, with which your customer can get straight to work this spring.
1. Dusting gloves: How to make plants grow even faster and better
Our dusting gloves are especially designed to gently and subtly remove dust and bugs from leaves. This allows plants to breathe better, absorb more light and be less likely to suffer from pests and diseases due to damage from insect feeding on leaves. The gloves are made of microfiber and have a universal fit. And best of all? They can simply go in the washing machine, making them re-usable to provide long-lasting plant care. Plants with large leaves such as the Monstera, Strelitzia or Calathea Roseopicta, for example, lend themselves well to being dusted with these gloves. On the other hand, better not let your customers dust hairy and waxy plants with these.
"By regularly dusting the leaves of your plants with these gloves, you help them catch more light and thus promote their growth."
PS. Of course, these gloves are a bit different from other gardening gloves. Therefore, the photo on the packaging (with eurolock), allows you to immediately see what they are for and thus they stand out better on the shelf!
2. Plant trolleys: The big houseplant spring migration
With rising temperatures and brighter sun, plants can burn if parked close to the window. Thus, it's helpful to get your customers started on the big houseplant switching routine as early as spring. For example, plants with thick leaves or cactuses can tolerate more sun and you better put them on or next to the windowsill. In turn, move the other plants to a darker spot in the house or a spot with indirect sunlight. This will allow them to get used to the bright sun a bit and slowly come out of hibernation. For a relocation (without getting a hernia), our plant trolleys offer a solution. You can use them to move plants easily to a place with ideal light or drag them outside very quickly during a rain shower on a hot day. Our plant trolley range is very extensive and is attractive enough to keep plants on all year round (also handy for when the floor heating comes back on in autumn).
"Protect plants from the sun and move them effortlessly with our handy indoor and outdoor plant trolleys."
You will find in our Esschert's Garden collection trolleys made of different materials, trolleys for indoor and outdoor use, trolleys with or without brakes, trolleys suitable for light or heavy flower pots or are adjustable in size. And do you prefer to buy in bulk? Then also ask about our complete trolley display or shelf plan with header cards.

3. Watering cans, sprayers and hygrometers: The best hydration for our green rookies
With the amount of light and warmth that spring brings (can't you wait either? 😃), plants need more water than in winter. Our indoor watering cans (mostly characterized by a narrow pouring hole, long spout, often nozzle-less) and plant misters make it easy to keep plants well hydrated in summer. By regularly checking whether the soil is moist enough, you can prevent plants from drying out or over-watering. We have also developed something handy for the last one. In fact, with our hygrometer you can measure accurately and know exactly when it's time to water your plants.
4. Flower pots: hurry up to repot
In spring, plants come out of their winter hibernation and have the energy to start growing again in full force. This can mean that plants start growing out of control. In addition, the old potting soil in the (too) small pot they are in no longer provides enough nutrition and breathing space. Spring is the time to repot plants. So have you not yet stocked up on flower pots or could your assortment use more variety in pots? We would like to introduce you to a series of new and multifunctional ( terracotta) pots with saucers, for (indoor) plants.
Last season we already added contemporary robust terracotta pots to our assortment. The round brown pots are available in four sizes, each with a matching (separately available) saucer. They are frost-resistant and feature a handy drainage hole, making them ideal for outdoor use. But with the included insert cover, made from recycled plastic, the pot can also be used indoors for houseplants. A convenient two-in-one choice with a natural look. Also included this spring and summer season are glazed ceramic pots and saucers in green and gray finishes. These pots also have a drainage hole, but also come with plastic insert cover so you can use them for both outdoors and indoors.
